Today is the summer solstice and the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Due to the tilt in the earth's axis, the sun is shining directly over the Tropic of Cancer- its northern most point. The sun's migration has been moving northward since December, and today, it will change direction and start to move south again.
In many Native American traditions, the summer solstice represents a time a of "High Ceremony." The dynamic energy of the planet is at its peak in the northern hemisphere. It is a optimal time to connect with this energy to awaken your vision through ceremonies like Vision Quest, Medicine Wheel, and Sun Dance. It is time to dance your dream awake.
You can walk through life open or shut down. So how can you stay open and vulnerable without being taken advantage of or setting yourself up for the slaughter? The best skill I have come across for this was taught to me by Bart Anderson. He called it "folding over the envelope".
We tend to view our relationships as "all or nothing". We tend to share every part of ourselves or no part at all.
