It’s happened to all of us. You open up your present and see socks or something practical. You smile and say “That’s nice, thank you.” You probably even tell yourself, “Well that’s cool, I can always use socks.” But you were secretly hoping that you got something else – a gift you really wanted. We often gift ourselves the same way. We give ourselves the safe, practical things that are the low hanging
fruit. We take the job that has good hours and job security. We hang out with the people we are comfortable with. We organize our schedule to be practical and efficient. But are the things you allow yourself to have what you really want?
So yes, it is the perfect time of the year to set intentions. But this time, why not dig a little deeper and set an intention for something you really want. You may not be sure it is even possible - that's OK. If you had the ability to create and allow yourself anything you wanted, what would it be?
As it turns out, it is often not any harder to create what you really want. In fact, it is sometimes easier, because your heart and passion aligns with your intention making it more powerful. It may perhaps feel a little riskier or crazier, but that is just because it is outside your comfort zone and beyond what you typically allow for yourself.
When you think about it, what do you have to lose? The worst thing that could happen is what you want will not manifest. Unless of course, you are actually afraid that what you want will come to you - which is usually the case. Then you would have to rearrange and align your life with what you really want. That could be rather inconvenient and stressful. You might have to change jobs or your schedule. That could get messy fast.
But isn’t it time you consider allowing yourself to have what you really want?
