I, Michael Hoffman, LCSW, draw from diverse training and 25 years experience in cognitive-behavorial, developmental, family systems, psychodynamic, and experiential approaches to guide you to discover the clinical approach that works best for you. Let's work together as a team to creatively explore how you can develop and thrive as a clinical social worker.
It is essential to allow your feelings and humanness to be involved in clinical interactions. Being open to what you are feeling allows discernment, empathy and intuition. Clear and effective clinical care requires looking at the counter-transference that you inevitably experience with your clients. Are you feeling judgement, sympathy, protectiveness, or (God-forbid) attraction to him or her? Acknowledging your feelings allows you to become conscious of them which empowers you to effectively manage them.
