Building Momentum

May 01, 2023

Video Summary:

I want to continue with the theme of creating a new life for yourself. At this time of the year in the Medicine Wheel, we've awakened a new aspect of ourselves. It has been conceived and awakened, but there's a good chance it hasn't taken form yet so you may not see it in your life yet.

At times, perhaps you can feel your new life or reality, get glimpses of it, and experience it in subtle ways. It may be on the edge or fringe of your consciousness. Things may seem a little different, but you can't really put your finger on how it’s different or if it really is different.

This phase is a space where we tend to doubt the new things we sense about our lives, because they may be subtle. It may be a slightly different vibration or flow in our lives. We might wonder if it's actually real. Am I really experiencing life differently? Am I really flowing and moving through life in a new way?

Often there's this back-and-forth between our old and new realities and ways of being. It may feel like we have one foot in one reality and one foot in the other. It can be rather disorienting.

This is a really important time and has a lot to do with trust and belief. Our belief that this new reality actually exists begins to gradually grow. We go back and forth from thoughts such as, “This is crazy. It's never going to happen,” to, “Wow, perhaps this actually could happen.”

It's really important to reinforce the things that suggest that the new things you wanted are starting to come to you. Keep in mind that we're swimming upstream for a while because we're used to our old way of being so our minds are going to be comfortable with and aligned with that.

One of the ways that we reinforce our new way of being is by building momentum by acknowledging success. When we experience a breakthrough, new flow, or synchronistic thing happening, we can say, “Yes, this is happening. I can feel it.” It's building a momentum of energy and belief that something new is happening.

My teacher used to say, “Mike, do not lose the momentum you have created.” So how do we do that? We keep tuning into that new flow of energy and when we do have a breakthrough, we acknowledge it by journaling it and talking about it with people that can support it. We keep it going.

And it's a perfect time of year for this because we've awakened the new thing, and now we’re in the time of the in-betweens. It would be really easy to drift back into our old comfort zone because that's what we know and the new stuff is still a bit fleeting. We may not even be sure that it's real.

So it's trusting the subtlety, flow, and synchronicity of the new things, and building momentum and feeding it by working with it every day. Instead of doubting the new thing, it’s considering, "Maybe this thing is happening. Maybe something new is awakening in me. Maybe my new life is gradually unfolding."
