For Its Own Sake

Apr 03, 2022

Video Summary:

I want to contrast two different intentions for doing something. The first of these is more strategic in that we're doing something because it's productive and brings value to our lives. For example, we take a job because it's going to bring more abundance to our family, or we go to college because it's going open doors for us in our career.

The second way is more spontaneous and we're doing something simply because it brings us joy. We do it for its own sake because we want to do it. We're drawn to do it and passionate about it. It could be what we're in the mood to do, or what we just feel like doing right now.

I'm inviting you to consider doing some things simply because they bring you joy. It really takes some trust to do things for their own sake. You’re following your passion and what you're drawn to which puts you in your natural flow. It’s trusting that if you’re in that flow, it's going lead to good outcomes.

They may not be the outcomes that you planned like the first way, but they will lead to good outcomes that you were not able to even comprehend with your mind.

So in the first more planned way, you’re relying on your mind to do the things that you need to do to have the things you want. If you do things for their own sake, follow your passion, and find your flow, you’re relying on Life, God, Spirit, or the Universe to guide you to where you want to be.
